One of the highest rated restaurants in Baveno, Italy on TripAdvisor, but hardly any reviews for Yelp.
Located in the heart of town on a town square overlooking the lakefront. It was 91 degrees with high humidity, and nobody in their right mind would be eating inside, if there were outdoor tables available.
We got the closest table to the lake with our lake view obstructed by tent kiosks of vendors cleaning up at 630pm.
Service is good, with me getting the 13 euro black spaghetti with squid, mussels amid a delicious saffron cream. The black pasta tastes just like regular colored pasta. 3 large mussels adds flavor to the light cream sauce. Various bits of perfectly cooked squid enhances the flavor and the presentation.
Wife had the 13 euro ravioli stuffed with milky cheese and vegetables julienne. Exactly 4 ravioli. I would have ordered the meat ravioli.
Bill comes with a coperti, or cover charge of 2 euros per person, or 4 euros, plus a 2.5 euro charge for water, which comes in a bottle. plus the 26 euros for the two pasta dishes. 6.5 euros or $8 for mandatory water and cover charges for each couple, before you even order the first course.
Good meal, but not much of a view at 630pm, with the vendor's kiosks blocking our lake view. Highest table tax yet at 4 euros. Good thing we had a large lunch, otherwise we would be going home hungry. -

Everything was great! Service was outstanding, promptly and everybody with a huge smile
It was a two hour meal like mentioned in previous comments and this is fine with me!
If I am in a rush, I just go to a fast food
Italians truly understand that dining is an experience and a moment of relax, talk and laugh!!
Pasta was al dente, I forgot to ask to bring it more cooked. My fault!!
Grilled fish with potatoes.......OMG! So fresh! No sauces, no pepper, no need for anything! Just plain grilled fish with some salt
Desserts were different, a very interesting tiramisu!
Overall, great atmosphere,fresh food, homemade pasta and prices extremely reasonable!

If the service was better I would have given Posta 5 stars. It took two hours to eat a two course meal. The wait times for food is ridiculously long, even for Italy.
BUT the food was excellent.
First Course:
I ordered the pasta with eggplant, capers and olives. The pasta was cooked perfectly as was the sauce.
My dinning companion had the cannelloni which was stuffed with ricotta cheese and it was excellent.
The other had onion soup, the soup of the day. It was served Italian style, not French with the melted cheese, but it was still great.
Second Course:
I had the grilled veal chop which was served with fried potatoes and mini vegetables, sorry of 1980's nouvelle cuisinne. Everything was prepared to perfection.
Companion 1 had the lake Char which was grilled with bacon and blueberries. It is an odd mix of flavors but it works.
Companion 2 gad the ravioli served in a white sauce, also tasty.
We did not have dessert because the ungodly slow service made us run out of time, -

Amazing food. Does cater to tourists, with menu in several languages. Locals here as well. Simply outstanding! Reserve an outdoor table. Previous reviewer with similar name must have still have been jet lagged and cranky.

The worst restaurant experience I've had in Italy. My partner is Italian and I've traveled across over 30 cities in ten years but this was horrible. Stale bread served at table. Unfriendly and aggressively rude staff. A wait of 20 minutes to be asked about drinks. And the food was pathetic. Over priced, low quality rubbish designed for tourists with no options. Please, go somewhere else. Anywhere else. Just not this hell.
